I bought my house in 2007 following a separation. as I had a previous mortgage with my x i am not entitled to this new relief. I feel that this is very very unfair. To my mind I am a first time buyer. would red oak like to address this problem with revenue for me. I am sure there are lots of other people in the same position.

I own a car 2.5 liter v6 2004 but don’t drive coz I have another car, it is at home. I don’t pay tax for that now.

Do I have to pay tax for that in 2012 budget if I still don’t drive it?

Hi Lar,
Sorry to hear that.
You will likely be due a tax refund as you did not get to use tax credits due to you for sep – dec. That’s for starters.
But you should get redundancy from the state at the least. I’d suggest contacting redundancy.ie, which has a helpline for the redundancy side of things.

Hi Timothy,
Worth looking into. We dealt with a case, for example, where we were able to put the clients Mortgage Interest relief 1st time buyer relief on hold while they went abroad for a few years, so there is that facility. need to confirm this can be done at the start of a mortgage.
